SRA Staffing

Head of Engineering & Product (AI / Real-Time / Platform Modernization)

SRA Staffing | Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid Preferred)

SRA Staffing is exclusively partnering with an established software company that develops high-performance, real-time desktop and platform technology for the entertainment industry and other precision-driven environments.

Its products are used in live production, immersive experiences, and performance-critical settings, combining real-time tracking, spatial data, 3D visualization, and specialized software workflows. These systems operate in environments where accuracy, latency, and reliability are non-negotiable.

With a strong legacy platform and a specialized global footprint, the company is now entering a major phase of platform modernization and AI-driven product evolution.

This is a rare opportunity to lead both engineering and product transformation in a technically complex, highly differentiated domain.

The Opportunity

This role is not about maintaining systems.

It is about rebuilding, modernizing, and leading from the front.

You will own the evolution of a complex platform at the intersection of real-time desktop software, platform modernization, AI-enabled engineering workflows, and specialized 3D visualization environments, while shaping both engineering execution and product direction.

What You Will Own

Platform Modernization

  • Lead the transition from legacy systems to a modern, scalable architecture

  • Enable real-time performance and future-ready system design

AI-First Engineering Approach

  • Integrate AI into both product capabilities and internal development workflows

  • Drive adoption of AI as a core part of engineering productivity

Architecture & System Design

  • Act as the technical authority and system architect

  • Ensure alignment across real-time tracking, data processing, and visualization systems

Product & Engineering Alignment

  • Own the intersection of technical execution and user value

  • Define success metrics tied to real-world use cases

Experimentation-Driven Culture

  • Shift teams toward a hypothesis-driven, iterative delivery model

  • Promote rapid experimentation and continuous improvement

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and scale a high-performing engineering team

  • Create an environment of accountability, ownership, and technical excellence

What We Are Looking For

Technical Leadership Experience

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams through a major modernization or rebuild of a complex product

  • Strong candidates may come from desktop, embedded, industrial, simulation, engineering software, or other performance-sensitive product environments

Real-Time / Desktop / Performance Systems Exposure

  • Experience working with desktop software, real-time systems, performance-critical platforms, or complex technical products

  • Experience with 3D visualization, graphics, rendering, CAD, simulation, or spatial systems is a strong asset, but not the only path to fit

  • Exposure to technologies such as OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan, Unreal, Unity, or similar is valuable, but not required

Architecture & Systems Thinking

  • Deep understanding of modern architectures (cloud, distributed systems, or real-time pipelines)

AI Mindset & Application

  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI in practical engineering environments

  • Strong belief in AI as a force multiplier within development teams

Product-Oriented Thinking

  • Ability to bridge engineering and product, understanding both what to build and why

Working Model & Location

  • Canada-based candidates only

  • Toronto-based candidates strongly preferred (hybrid model, 2–3 days/week)

  • Open to candidates across Canada willing to travel regularly to Toronto

  • Non-Quebec candidates preferred due to payroll constraints

Compensation & Benefits

  • $150,000 – $200,000 CAD base salary

  • ESOP participation

  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits

  • 3 weeks vacation + 6 additional PTO days

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel within Canada and occasionally to the U.S.

  • Periodic international travel (e.g., trade shows, industry events) as required
